Now, North Americans have a particular taste for life…in slight comparison to say Asians, Africans, or others around this beautiful world! North Americans tend to favor modernization and will quickly abandon “traditional” for the newer, upgraded look no matter if it’s not natural…. Or better yet, costs more to be natural!

Here to the rescue; these next few steps can keep you on track to hitting your project goal & budget and also keep naturally, eco-friendly timeless pieces at the focal point of your garden! After all you want to receive those compliments from those nasty, constantly nagging friends and family at your home event, right? Ha ha! Tip #1:

TIP #1: Have fun with your designs. Take a chip off the old shoulder and feel free to explore and pursue what brings you the most joy when looking at your garden designs! Do you like pink, rock it out in all pink? Are you more demure or mysterious, add in the black accents to your windows or antiqued wood pieces for an interesting look. I don’t know! I don’t know what you want and absolutely NOBODY cares what you choose. As long as you’re not offensive in words or images you should be fine to completely express yourself in the finest light… remember, your personality matters. Let your people find you! And those who don’t like it just won’t look or compliment! LOL.

TIP #2: Use tradition. Build upon what has worked and create something more than can work for your home garden.

TIP #3: Incorporate tribal or geographic features that could give your space a most distinctive characteristic. Do you enjoy color patterns or kaleidoscope patterns? Do you wish to see your state’s or college team when you relax in your outdoor space? Go for it! Personalize the place. I really enjoy the ankh (ankh is our symbol of life) so I have the images through my domain. What makes your place instantly feel like yours to those who know and love you? Do THAT!

TIP #4: Modernize and elevate with glass, wood, polished looking rocks, or neutral colors such as brown, tan, white or even black. These touches can scream “I have class” without breaking the bank account too much!

TIP #5: Do you have a family? A spouse? Children? A cat? Incorporate their wishes, designs or uniqueness into the property. If you have a place add in handprints (or paw prints 🤷🏻‍♀️)

TIP #6: Draw inspiration from others! Travel to Morocco, Japan, Halstad, ? Dubai. These cultures of people have moved the traditional needle forward in a way I must say can give the average Joe or Jane in America the confidence to incorporate our own culture into our green spaces! Don’t be afraid to take an idea, they do it to us all the time! (Ha ha, but you should always give credit where it’s due! Hint hint!) Allow life and the good spirit to lead you to your finest moments & recreate them in your own backyard!

TIP #7: Always consult professional advice! As a beginner, it’s easy to get over ambitious (or whatever the heck that is!) and under experienced (oops!). But you don’t have to throw away your big ideas! The pros that you trust can work out the engineering, or even the budget, to assure you and your family enjoys the upgrading at your property for years to come! Why not go for that flying eagle over the fire pit? Why not incorporate that Egyptian style pyramid in the corner pocket? It’s possible! The pros have probably traveled to work or learn in more than your local region and will bring more insight on how to get it done! Believe in the vision you have for your own backyard. After all; you’re going to be the only one that has to reallllly enjoy it ;)😉
